Milosevic: More evil than the devil himself?

http://www.intoon.com/cartoons.cfm/id/15154

The artist who drew this obviously felt strongly towards Milosevic. The picture shows him giving suggestions to the devil while nonchalantly glancing at the people burning in hell beneath him, alluding that Milosevic is more evil than the devil himself.
After researching the different opinions people have of Milosevic, I realize a negative view is most common (naturally), but it also makes me think of what drives people to support such a man. Wouldn't it be concerning if the man you were wishing to free from prison was viewed by others as more evil than the man who created evil himself (disregarding the fact he was tried for genocide)? Wouldn't that make you at least reconsider?

  1. Nicole, your question is really interesting. I can find great references in the World War II about your example. German supported Hitler as their leaders before the Great War, believing in his ideas of racism and completely obedience to the government.
One of the main reasons I can think of why people supported a leader who was proved to be really evil is that people in misery does not think normally. They are easy to evoke by anger and discrimination and the result of that is horrifying.
In order to maintain peace in the world, every country should help each other to develop and prosper. People will be peace and nice when they live in higher standards.

  2. Sadly, many people are easily influenced. If people listened to both sides of an argument, they would easily go to the side that has the best argument. Like our debates in class, the winner gets to decide what happens. If most people had minds of their own, what would happen to the world? Would we have peace? War? What makes people make decisions like this?
